The article generalizes most of the goods, not specific types of goods, nor does it clearly state which country is imported from. Because the import procedures of each type of import and each type of goods are different, I also only generalize the steps and the most necessary documents.

The process of importing a shipment from abroad to Vietnam
(Importers' perspective)

The article generalizes most of the goods, not specific types of goods, nor does it clearly state which country is imported from. Because the import procedures of each type of import and each type of goods are different, I also only generalize the steps and the most necessary documents.
For each individual product, you can refer to other circulars and documents.

The process of importing a shipment from abroad to Vietnam.

Step 1. Find an exporter and quote the price
The first thing is to find out about your goods and know the specific information about the exporter (The exporter / saler).
- About goods: Name of goods, quality of goods (samples can be sent), packing specifications, price (for small quantity purchases? If buying in bulk), production time Is the expiry date of your product or product imported by many companies in Vietnam?
- About the exporter: The size of the company,? Address, phone number, email, skype, yahoo, ?? The company's market? The most outstanding product?

After learning about the company and the goods, you will place an order and plan to import.

Step 2. Place an order
You can send Offer Sheet to the exporter or email. That is not important in trading. The Offer Sheet contains the following contents:
- Information of the seller (Company name, address, phone number, email, representative)
- Information of The Buyer (Company name, address, phone number, email, representative)
- Information of goods (name of goods, quantity, delivery conditions, total amount)
- Payment terms

Remember when placing an order you should ask The seller to send Proma Invoice as well.
You can use this Proma Invoice to transfer money at the bank (Subject to each payment condition.

Step 3. Enter the contract and specify the date of boarding.

Contracted
In this article I do not mention in detail the terms of the contract.
But you should pay attention to a few terms:
- Name of goods, quantity, total amount: This information must match invoice, packing list, BL too.
Origin: (from which country) This information is important. If there is a shortage, the customs will make it difficult for you.
- Terms of payment: You need to consider many angles: payment time, delivery time, departure time, if using LC, consider the shipping time as well.

For other terms you can refer to some books learned in school or at other websites.

Determine the date of boarding:
Depending on the terms of delivery, you together with The seller determine the date of boarding, book the ship and ship the goods to the port in Vietnam.

The importer or the exporter can book ships directly with the shipping company, or forwarder. It is important that the two sides cooperate well in the process of book and transport of goods to the port. The exporter won't mind if you say you can do well with international shipping. Or if your company does not have much experience in international shipping, while the exporter does a good job of it, let them help you. In international trade, efficiency is important. Do not try to force it according to the delivery terms specified in the contract.

Step 4. Exporter closes the goods and delivers them at the port.

You should also monitor the exporter's packing and delivery at the port. When do they pack, how long do they pay? How long does it take to transport from factory to port. It is important information for you to schedule the following shipments (In case of urgent need and to match the train schedule)
A inquiry about the goods after the goods are packed and transported to the port can also create more of your business relationship with the exporter.

Step 5. International shipping
- By air
- By sea

Regardless of the shipping method of your shipment, you should pay attention to the following points:
- Name of carrier
- Schedule how many trips / week
- How long does the shipping time take?
- When is the latest delivery time?
- Date of departure / date of arrival
- Go directly or convey (direct / tranship)
- Port of departure / port of destination

Step 6. International payment:

Payment time is based on the contract between the two parties. I put in step 6 for a generic shipment.
For international payments, please note that you should prepare documents according to the stated contract. For example: In a contract that says the payment terms TT 100% after receiving a copy of BL, invoice, packing list, you must have all the papers before they can ship it.

In addition, information about the beneficiary, the name of the beneficiary bank, the address must also match in the contract, invoice

Step 7. Prepare documents and do customs procedures in Vietnam.

As mentioned above, for each type, each item will require different documents. Here I list a few documents offline:

- Contract (Contract)
- Commercial Invoice (Commercial Invoice)
- List of goods (Packing list)
Certificate of Origin (CO)
- Phytosan phytosanitary
- Certificate of analysis
- Health certificate
- Certificate of free sale
- Quality publication
- Registration for quality inspection
- VV….

After you have the complete set of documents, you proceed to make customs declaration and customs clearance.

Step 8. Take the goods and bring the goods to the warehouse.
